Whether you are an expert wine connoisseur or a beginner lover of good wine Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, we have the right wine-tasting formula for you, to discover the Val d’Orcia and Monte Amiata area, to enjoy an active holiday with our Jeep excursions and vineyard trekking, to deepen your knowledge of the world of wine with the expert sommelier.
Start the tour with an expert guide who will take you to the ‘La Casetta’ vineyard. Our team is particularly devoted to this plot: from these grapes will be born our finest wine, the Riserva. September is a favourable month because you have the opportunity to assist live at the grape harvest.
After a few brief insights into the biological cycle and the differences between the vine varieties, we enter the winery. The building is in the shape of a castle with several towers and has a beautiful view of the Val d’Orcia. During the tour inside, the guide will introduce the steps of winemaking, including crushing, fermentation, racking and filling the oak barrels. We then proceed with a visit to the Wine Odeon, our barrel cellar, where our red wines are slowly resting and ageing.
The wine tasting is the highlight of our wine tourism experience: seated in the peace of our panoramic terrace, gazing out over the breathtaking panorama of the Val d’Orcia, among vineyards, olive groves, fields of wheat and a kaleidoscope of soft, natural colours, we will taste Podere Montale wines, including reds, whites, some DOC (Controlled Designation of Origin) and others IGT (Regional Wine). The expert wine tasting guide will suggest how to discern aromas and train your nose and palate to recognise scents.
